The NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs of 2023 have reached the championship round. The Stanley Cup Final will feature the Florida Panthers versus the Vegas Golden Knights, with Game 1 scheduled for Saturday night. What a crazy playoff season.

The Boston Bruins broke new NHL Stanley Cup records for victories (64) and points (135), winning the Presidents’ Trophy and making the playoffs. However, Boston was eliminated in the first round after the Panthers pulled off a stunning upset in Game 7.

The Colorado Avalanche appeared poised to defend their championship in the West, but that didn’t last long. Instead, Vegas is the last Western team standing.

The playoffs are organized as follows:

• In the first round, the division champion with the highest points in each conference will play the second Wild Card club. In the first round, the division champion with the fewest points in each conference will play the top Wild Card team.
• A best-of-seven format will be used for each series.
• In the first two rounds of the playoffs, the club with the top seed gets to play at home. In both the conference finals and Stanley Cup Final, home-ice advantage goes to the team with the most regular-season points.
